Throughout the year, students will be taught in a supportive, respectful environment where we build a community and participate in a variety of academic and social activities.
During our Literacy time, we focus on identifying letters and their sounds. All students begin to use inventive spelling and sounding out words based on the sounds they hear. Students also practice reading age-appropriate books in guided reading groups
At Math time students master writing and identifying numbers 1-50. They work on simple addition and subtraction, work in small groups or with a partner doing activities that reinforce the skills learned in class. Other Math topics include patterns, sorting, graphing, plane shapes, solid shapes, money and time.
In Science students will study life science, earth, space, and physical science. They will learn about technology as well.
During Social Studies time, students will learn to take turns, show respect for others, and how to share.
Students will learn the Sign of the Cross, the Our Father and the Hail Mary. They will learn about respect for others as God’s creation, and that prayer is a valuable and meaningful form of communication with God.
