Mrs. Paula DeHaas, Assistant Principal
I am returning to Our Lady of Fatima School for my 7thyear. My career here started in 2005 with me pushing an art cart 2 mornings a week going room to room from kindergarten to fifth grade. These days I’m here every day and I work with the entire school from prekindergarten to middle school 6th, 7th and 8th grades. I have retired my cart as I now have my own art room complete with sink! In addition to my teaching duties, I serve as our Assistant Principal, so it’s helpful that this room is located next to the central office.
I have a B.A. degree in Fine Arts, and an M.A. in Education. I have a Level III elementary school K-8 license, as well as a Level III K-12 license with visual arts endorsement. I also have a middle school language arts endorsement. I have nearly 17 years teaching experience which includes a stint as a 4th grade teacher, and in an 8th grade self contained classroom. In 2008-09 I completed a graduate program through the College of Santa Fe to get my N.M. state administration license. It was at that time that I was given the opportunity to start my parallel career as an assistant principal.
I have been married 31 years to Richard and we have 3 grown children. We live inEdgewoodwhere we have horses, dogs, sheep, a steer, pigs and a big garden. Some of my hobbies include sewing, drawing, reading, and walking and biking to stay fit.
