Ms. Danielle Durham, 1st Grade
Hello Our Lady of Fatima family! My name is Danielle Durham. I’m originally from Las Cruces and grew up in El Paso, TX. I moved up here to Albuquerque about seven years ago and have grown to love northern New Mexico. I come from a fairly large family, I have a twin sister (we look nothing alike) and two brothers who are also fraternal twins. My parents had their hands full raising four kids three years apart, but I feel lucky to have such a close family.
I graduated from UNM with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and minor/endorsement in Math with summa cum laude honors. I was always drawn to teaching but stayed away from that path by pursuing a degree in finance. Sitting in class one day I realized it was not what I truly wanted, and that day I took the leap and switched my major to education and have not looked back.
I feel blessed to be teaching first grade at OLF. In the past, I worked for a family literacy program where I taught preschool, high school and adult parenting classes. I made home visits to assess child developmental levels, and that experience showed me how important parental involvement is within a child’s education and how much it can impact learning. I believe that elementary education is an extremely important base in shaping a child’s life. I will provide compassion and enthusiasm toward each child’s personal and educational needs. It is my goal to provide a well-rounded curriculum that will engage and extend student learning. As a result, I hope that my students will forever enjoy school and embrace learning.
