Ms. Sharon Dingel, 2nd Grade

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord.”

I earned my BA degree from the University of New Mexico with an endorsement in TESOL. This is my 6th year teaching 2nd grade (Level 11) at Our Lady of Fatima. The principal leads the way. Mr. Whalen does a terrific job. He keeps in close touch with the teachers and makes sure they share his vision of an orderly school and advocates high academic standards. Simply put I have one of the best jobs in the world.

Religion is a vital part of character development in the 2nd grade. Belief in God anchors their sense of right and wrong and promotes hard work, honesty, individual responsibility, and discipline. Our faith and spiritual journey is a call to kindness and inspires concern for others. We pray at the beginning and end of each day. This helps us to make choices to live as Jesus taught us to live and helps us to thank and praise God all day long. God is the source of all forgiveness. Lord, make us instruments of your peace!

My genuine interest is to ensure that children feel safe and loved. We are taught to respect each other’s differences and opinions. I encourage taking risks, accepting responsibility for actions, and promoting cooperative behavior. Our classroom is a safe and caring environment where we continue to learn from each other. Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School is a welcoming place where children know that adults care deeply about them. All its participants share enthusiasm, pride, and a sense of common purpose. There is much seriousness about learning, and also much joy. I am proud to teach at a school that really cares about the moral character of its students!
